Painting and Drawing

Major in Painting and Drawing - 60 credits

In the Painting and Drawing program, practice and theory are equally emphasized, and the area intentionally embraces a wide variety of aesthetic visions and approaches to the language of painting and drawing. Students develop skills in the context of an ongoing dialogue both with the tradition and history of painting, and with contemporary art. Increasingly, this includes a variety of influences from other disciplines but Studio Arts at Concordia University continues to see drawing as a germinal tool in the development of an artist.

The program is the largest within the Department of Studio Arts and benefits from the presence of more than 25 part-time and full-time faculty members and their energy, diversity of ideas and active implication in the contemporary art community both here in Montreal and beyond.
