The MFA in Studio Arts represents the culmination of academic training in Studio Arts.
At Concordia the process is made especially rigorous by the fact that the Department of Studio Arts is but one component within a larger intellectual and creative campus community.
Alongside exemplary production skills with a given medium, our graduate students are expected to also develop sophisticated understandings of the conceptual underpinnings of their work; of the social significance of their activities; and of the historical lineage, context, and antecedents of their ideas.
Concordia Studio Arts excels at research, analysis, production and criticism in the field of fine arts. We have come to know this as research/creation.
With this hybridized approach we invite selected students to work towards advanced degrees within the Fine Arts within one of three distinct strategies, for Concordia University is a rare environment that recognizes the creative capacity in intellectual processes alongside the intellectual rigour in studio based practices.
